The Department of physics in Rajkiya kanya Maha Vidyalaya (RKMV) Shimla -1 was established in year 1977 to cater the needs of students in this region. Our objective is to teach and train undergraduates in the complete spectrum of experimental and theoretical physics at the highest level. We are trying to achieve overall development of the students to meet the national standards and promote the ability to solve problems through their imaginative solutions. The syllabus designed by Himachal Pradesh University Shimla is followed for teaching. All students are able to develop their enthusiasm and ingenuity through the challenges provided by the courses. Presently the department has three Assistant Professors. Students interact to the faculty in an intellectually stimulating environment. Basic courses and skill enhancement courses are taught in the three degree course. College is also providing platform for the students to participate in national level competition like NGPE (NATIONAL GRADUATE PHYSICS EXAMINATION) conducted by IAPT(INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICS TEACHERS) in the month of January every year.
