RKMV HONOURED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP 2nd October 2026
True to Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless vision of cleanliness and responsible living, Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya was honoured with a prestigious Certificate of Appreciation by the Municipal Corporation Shimla on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 2nd October 2026.
The certificate was awarded by the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Kavinder Gupta ji and was received by Dr. Meena, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science, along with her dedicated team of students.
This significant achievement has been realised under the leadership of the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, and through the dedicated efforts of Dr. Meena, whose sustained initiatives have strengthened the culture of environmental consciousness across the campus.
Over the past two years, RKMV has undertaken several meaningful initiatives towards a cleaner and greener environment:
* More than 1,000 kg of single-use plastic collected through dedicated drives undertaken in collaboration with Auckland House School for Girls and Auckland House School for Boys and handed over to MC Shimla for further management and disposal.
* 650 kg of nutrient-rich vermicompost generated on campus from organic waste.
* Active collaboration with the Municipal Corporation Shimla in city-wide sanitation campaigns and anti-plastic awareness initiatives
RKMV remains committed not only in creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment, but also engaging and inspiring neighbouring educational institutions to join hands in this noble cause- fostering a spirit of collective responsibility and environmental stewardship.
