Vishaka Guidelines

Safeguarding Dignity · Empowering Voices · Ensuring Safety

RKMV follows the 'Vishaka Guidelines' formed on the basis of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013 for Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal.

Counseling & Sensitization

RKMV has a regular sanctioned post of Assistant Professor in Psychology, who counsels students from time to time. The college is committed to conducting and organizing regular sensitization programmes involving students, parents and the community. These sessions focus on:

  • Supporting students during high-stress periods such as exams.
  • Reducing domestic pressure regarding career choices and grades.
  • Collaboration with the PTA.
  • All teaching and non-teaching staff (including administrative and support staff) regularly undergoes sensitization programs over period. This includes Guest Lectures from specialists like Neurologist from IGMC. Multiverse lecture series are organized on various topics regarding soft-skills, IPRs and Mental Health.

Support Structure

Referral Linkages

Beyond the in-house counselor, RKMV maintains formal referral linkages with external psychiatric facilities such as IGMC Shimla and KNH for cases requiring clinical intervention or emergency psychiatric care.

Uniform Health Policy

Ensured through sensitization by the College Advisory Committee, Dean Student Welfare Committee, Discipline Committee, Complaints & Sexual Harassment Committee, Red Ribbon & Red Cross Society, NCC and NSS.

Mentee-Mentor Groups

The entire college is divided into mentee-mentor groups where students are counseled by a designated teacher in their respective periods, ensuring personalized guidance and support.

Anti-Discrimination

A dedicated Prevention of Caste Based Discrimination Committee caters to the diverse demographic of our institution. For any concerns, students may contact the Convener or members of these committees.

Internal Committee

RKMV has constituted an Internal Committee empowered to take immediate action on complaints involving:

Sexual Assault & Harassment
Ragging & Bullying
Physical or Cyber
Discrimination
Caste, Class, Gender, Religion

Holistic Development

RKMV's motto is to promote the Holistic Development of students through structured career counseling involving both students and parents, regular extracurricular activities and sports events throughout the academic calendar, and dedicated preparation for competitive examinations.

Our Goals

— Reduce unrealistic academic pressure.

— Promote awareness of diverse professional pathways.

— Ensure merit is not defined narrowly by test scores alone.

Academic Review

RKMV's Core Council / Board of Studies periodically reviews examination patterns. The objective is to cultivate a broader sense of identity among students, emphasizing personality development, arts and physical education over rote memorization.

RKMV Hostel

Strict regulation of access to rooftops, balconies and other high-elevation points is maintained through CCTV surveillance. The campus and hostels are kept free from harmful substances and drugs through regular inspections and awareness campaigns by the Anti-Drug Committee.

Zero Tolerance

RKMV Shimla follows zero tolerance towards incidents involving sexual assault, harassment, ragging and bullying on the basis of caste, class, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion or ethnicity. By implementing these Supreme Court guidelines in letter and spirit, we ensure that the pursuit of education never comes at the cost of a student's life or mental well-being.

For support or to report a concern, students may reach out to the Convener or Members of the Internal Committee, Discipline Committee or the Dean Student Welfare Committee. All complaints are treated with strict confidentiality.
