Pink October – Breast Cancer Awareness & Screening Programme 5th October 2026 Under the theme “My Mother Matters.”
As part of the internationally celebrated Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Women Cell of R.K.M.V., in collaboration with Shoolini University,Solan and Gurgaon-based Yuvraj Singh Foundation (YouWeCan), organized a Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Programme on 5th October 2026 under the theme ;My Mother Matters.;
The initiative aimed to foster health awareness among young female students,teaching and non teaching female staff members of the college, encouraging them to prioritize breast care and carry this message back to their families, particularly the women in their lives. The drive featured classroom awareness sessions, one-on-one counseling for students wishing to discuss personal concerns, and screening alongside counseling for faculty members.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Divya, technician Pinki, coordinator Sakshi from Shoolini University, and coordinator Mukul from the Yuvraj Singh Foundation.
Screenings were conducted using Niramai Thermalytix—an AI-backed high-resolution thermal imaging technology—in private booths equipped with tables and stools.
The Niramai thermal screening process was completely radiation-free, non-invasive, contactless, painless, and conducted fully clothed. Detailed, computer-generated "Niramai Breast Health Reports" providing B-Score risk categorizations were instantly generated online and made accessible on laptops and mobile phones right after each session, allowing for immediate identification of any irregularities requiring further evaluation.
The Principal of R.K.M.V., Dr. Anurita Saxena emphasised on the fact that the event successfully empowered women by enhancing their knowledge about critical health literacy, highlighting that early detection saves lives and strengthening community engagement around maternal health and well-being.
Women Cell Convener Dr. Sandhya Sharma coordinated the event successfully along with other members of Women Cell.
